With pink sand beaches and historical forts, Bermuda is a top cruise vacation spot for US travelers, who can easily take a cruise from many Eastern US cities. A high return visitor rate (50%) shows that Bermuda is growing in popularity despite heavy cruise regulations. Only 22 miles in length and barely two miles, Bermuda is a group of many islands connected by roads. Bermuda’s small size and large popularity rank it as the third most densely populated place on earth and the fifth smallest country in the world. Rental cars are prohibited for visitors, but pink buses travel along all major roadways, usually making stops every 15 minutes. One of the biggest draws of this active island is that you are never more than a mile from the Atlantic Ocean, no matter where in Bermuda you may be.

Cruises depart from numerous US East Coast ports, such as Charleston, New York, Philadelphia, Ft. Lauderdale, Norfolk, and Baltimore and travel to Hamilton, King’s Wharf, and/or St. George’s. While shorter cruises only stop at Bermuda, longer itineraries consider Bermuda to one of many ports of calls, with others being the Turks and Caicos and exotic Caribbean Islands. The low down on the three major Bermuda cruise destinations: Hamilton: The capital of Bermuda, Hamilton is one of the most active Bermudan cities. King’s Wharf: The only port capable of handling larger cruise vessels, King’s Wharf is Bermuda’s most popular tourist destination. St. George’s: Bermuda’s first colonized island, St. George’s was also England’s second settlement in the New World, after Jamestown. Bermuda Aquarium, Natural History Museum & Zoo: Located in Hamilton; must-see exhibits include humpback whales, a seven-foot moray eel, and the North Rock Exhibit, a 140,000-gallon tank. St. George’s Heritage Walking Tours: Offered by many major cruise lines. 1610 Deliverance: A replica of the centuries-old cedar ship. Front Street: Local vendors line up every Wednesday night in Hamilton for one of the biggest parties in Bermuda; during the day there are plenty of shops and boutiques on this street. Bermuda Maritime Museum: Located in King’s Wharf; home to artifacts from Bermuda’s many shipwreck sites and the restored 19th century Commissioner House. Clocktower Mall: Duty-free shopping in King’s Wharf. Bermuda Rum Cake Company: Pick up one of Bermuda’s famous rum cakes in King’s Wharf. Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute: Newly opened facility in Hamilton; contains the world's first simulated "deepwater submersible" and over 3,000 shells in its shell collection. Bermuda Golfing: With more golf cruises per square mile than anywhere else in the world, you will find a golf course that suits your scene and skill level in Bermuda. Recommended courses include Port Royal Golf Course, Riddell’s Bay Golf and Country Club, Southampton Princess, Mid-Ocean Club, Bermuda Golf Academy, St. George’s Golf Club, Ocean View Golf Club, and Tucker’s Point Golf Club. Bermuda National Gallery: A Heritage pass allows you access to the Bermuda National Gallery and other famous Bermuda tourist sites.
